Boudh: The District Education Officer (DEO) in Boudh has taken action against 56 government schools for not providing mid-day meals (MDM) to students on Independence Day, despite explicit directives from the state government.
Reports indicate that 15 schools in the Boudh block, 33 in the Harabhanga block, and eight in the Kantamal block did not distribute meals as mandated.
The state government had instructed all educational institutions to ensure MDM was served on August 15, and the DEO had previously communicated this order to the relevant nodal officers.
The schools in violation have been given a week to explain their failure to comply.
Additionally, they are required to provide dry rations for the meals that were missed, coordinated through the School Management Committees (SMCs), and must submit photographic or video documentation as evidence of their compliance.
